Revelation 17:9-10
Nimrod's is the first kingdom mentioned in the Bible. And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
Genesis 10:8-12
Accad is an alternate spelling of Akkad which was the capital of Akkadian Empire. The Hebrew word for Babel is always translated as Babylon except for 2 verses in Genesis. Babylon was the capital of the Babylonian Empire. Asshur and Nineveh were both capitals of the Assyrian Empire. So Nimrod's kingdom provided for the beginnings of not only the Akkadia Empire, but the Babylonian and Assyria Empires as well. And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah, And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.
Bullinger states in his 28th Appendix to the Companion Bible
Nimrod was the founder of Babylon, which partook of his character as being the great antagonist of God's Truth and God's People. We cannot fail to see, in Nimrod, Satan's first attempt to raise up a human universal ruler of men. There have been many subsequent attempts, such as Nebuchadnezzar, Alexander, Napoleon, and others. He will finally succeed in the person of the Antichrist.
